Video in Blackboard

Kaltura Media is a video service where both educators and students can upload video files to Blackboard.

Teachers can do this as content elements and educators and students can do it in the text editor, e.g. from a discussion forum or blog.

Content video (educators)

1.     Select the course and menu item where you want to insert a quiz video.

2. Go to "Tools" and select "Kaltura Media"

3. To create a new quiz, select "Add new" in the upper right corner of the window and click "Media upload".

4. On the next page, press "Choose a file to upload", find the video on your computer and press Ok.

5. While uploading the video file, you can name the file and provide a description. When the green process bar at the top shows 100%, you can press "Save" to save.

6. You will now return to the window where you can select media. Select the one with the title you gave it in step 5. Press "Select" to the right of the file.

7. Finally, create a heading and possibly a description for the that students can see in Blackboard. Press "Submit" – lo and behold - done!

Video in text editor (teachers and students)

1. Enter the text editor where you want to insert the video - e.g. from a content item, discussion forum, or blog post. Click the arrow next to "Mash-up" and select "Kaltura media"

2. Now a new window opens with a list of the files you have already uploaded. To upload a new one, select "Add new" in the upper right corner of the window and click "Media upload".

3. On the next page press "Choose a file to upload", find the video on your computer and press Ok.

4. While the video file uploads, you can name the file and provide a description. When the green process bar at the top shows 100%, you can press "Save" to save. Then press "Back to embed and browse" to insert the video.

5. You will now return to the window where you can select media. Select the one with the title that you gave it in step 4. Press "Select" to the right of the file.

6. The video you have selected has now been inserted into the text editor where it appears as a yellow box. You can write both before and after the box. Finish your post and hit "Submit" at the bottom – it is done!
